The Premier has approved of special leave being granted to part of the staff of each Government office on the afternoon of Monday 24th December, 1990 and the other part on the afternoon of Monday 31st December, 1990, subject to departmental convenience and to all offices being kept open on each occasion until normal closing times, with adequate staffing to meet all public requirements.

As in the past, the special leave will commence at 12 noon for officers working on standard time.

However, in those cases where officers work flexible hours, they must complete 3.5 hours duty before they are eligible for the special leave.

Those members of the staff who are not on duty on the morning of the 24th December, will not be entitled to the concession that afternoon. Subject to department convenience, however, they may be granted the concession on the afternoon of 31st December, provided they are on duty on the morning of that day.

I should be glad if appropriate arrangements could be made so far as your Department is concerned and if you would advise any sub-Department or other authority coming within, or associated with, your administration.
