In June 1990, the Director-General of the Premier's Department issued a Memorandum to all Ministers (Memorandum No. 90-33) reminding them of the requirement to consider the needs of people with disabilities in developing and executing emergency evacuation plans.
The attached Guidelines have been prepared by the Office on Disability to assist Departments and Authorities to meet these requirements.
The Guidelines have been drawn up within the framework of relevant standards and are intended to supplement general emergency evacuation procedures developed by Departments and Authorities. The Guidelines have been developed in close co-operation with the New South Wales Fire Brigades.
