Detailed Outline
In its determination of 30 August 1993 the Statutory and Other Offices Remuneration Tribunal indicated its readiness to hold a special reference to consider the impact of significant changes in market related comparisons between private and public sector executives.
The basis of costing. packages for the Chief Executive Service and the Senior Executive Service has been, and will continue to be, total cost to employer- The grossing up factor is now the same for both public and private employers. As a consequence the total remuneration packages for both Executive Services are being affected to a greater extent than their private sector counterparts. The competitiveness of the CES and the SES to attract and retain highly skilled and experienced managers is being significantly affected by the erosion of package values.
The Statutory and Other Offices Remuneration Tribunal is currently undertaking an independent review of this matter.
