The following circular should be read in conjunction with the recently issued 'Guidelines for Chief Executives and Senior Officers Electing Right of Return', Circular 94/12.

There is a provision for Executive Officers to receive income maintenance when electing to take up their right of return to the Public Sector. Generally, income maintenance is payable in accordance with an Agency's redeployment policy, that is, at the level of the former total remuneration package (less superannuation oncosts) for a period not exceeding 12 months.

It is emphasised that entitlement to income maintenance ceases where officers are subsequently reappointed to the Chief and or Senior Executive Service, irrespective of whether the level to which they are re-appointed is lower than the position from which right of return was exercised.
