Following the success of the 1993 Meet the Buyers event at which thirty-four State Government agencies were represented, the NSW Government has agreed to again join with the Commonwealth Government to organise another Meet the Buyers event planned for 14 - 15 June 1995.

The Government is committed to ensuring that NSW industry is given every opportunity to participate in Government purchasing. Last year's fair was strongly supported by industry attracting almost 6000 industry representatives. It is clear that the Fair is a useful vehicle for bringing together industry and Government buyers for a mutual exchange of information and advice outside the more formal tendering processes.

I therefore request that you support this event in the most appropriate way particularly if your purchases of goods and services, either directly or through other agencies or on behalf of other groups, are a significant part of your agency's functions and activities.

Coordination of State agency participation in the Fair will be managed by NSW Supply of the Commercial Services Group with the support of the Department of Business and Regional Development. Shortly, you will be receiving an invitation to an agency briefing on organisational arrangements. I request that you send a suitable representative to the briefing to ensure that suitable arrangements can be made for your agency`s participation.
