Detailed Outline
Circular No. 1996-3 contained details of the correct form of the short and long title of the new Governor for inclusion in Commissions, Proclamations, etc.
There appears to continue to be some uncertainty in some agencies about how to represent the Governor's signature in the published versions of such documents.
If the document is an instrument that does not carry the Govemor's seal (such as an Order) the Governor's signature should appear as:
G Samuels, Governor
If the document is an instrument that carries the Governor's seal (such as a Proclamation) the Governor's signature should appear as:
(LS) G Samuels, Governor
His Excellency does not include his second initial in his signature, nor does he include his Companion of the Order of Australia in his signature.
The practice has also developed of publishing documents in the Government Gazette carrying a photocopied version of Ministers' actual signatures. It is preferable that the published versions of documents appearing in the Government Gazette carry a typed version of a Minister's name.
