Description
Effective on and from 1 July 1996 there will be no cost imposed for right of return in relation to any SES officer who still has that right.
Detailed Outline
Public Employment Office Circular 1996-4 of 22 January 1996 advised that effective from 1 July 1996 SES officers electing to take right of return to the public sector, or who were redeployed to a lower position in the SES, would not be entitled to salary maintenance to their former SES level.
As a consequence, and as the cost for right of return was based only on the payment of salary maintenance, it has been determined that effective on and from 1 July 1996 there will be no cost imposed for right of return in relation to any SES officer who still has that right. This policy applies to all public service departments, statutory authorities and State Owned Corporations.
It would be appreciated if you would bring this to the attention of appropriate officers within your administration and ensure that remuneration packages of SES officers affected by the change are adjusted as soon as possible.
