Description
Since SES officers are appointed for a fixed term, the option of proceeding on leave prior to retirement from the public sector is not available if the effective date of retirement would extend beyond the term of which the officer was appointed. Any accrued leave to which the officer is entitled at the end of the officer's term of appointment can only be cashed out.
Detailed Outline
It has come to my attention that some uncertainty exists concerning the entitlements of SES officers to take accrued long service or extended leave or other leave on retirement from the public sector.
It would be appreciated if this matter could be brought to the attention of all SES officers and SES Administrators in your organisation. The matter may well be of significance for the superannuation entitlements of officers who are considering retirement.
Any enquiries can be directed to Frank Constable on (02) 9228 5511 or for superannuation issues Robyn Quinn on (02) 9228 3524.
