I am forwarding to you a copy of the NSW Public Sector Interim Vocational Educational & Training (VET) Plan 1998 - 2000. 

The VET Plan was produced by the NSW Public Sector Industry training Advisory Body (ITAB) based on substantial consultation with, and input from, public sector agencies in NSW. Fifty-six agencies provided direct input by completing a VET Plan Survey late last year. 

The VET Plan contains a number of recommendations for further progressing the development of education and training within the public sector in NSW. In response to these recommendations the Premier's Department will undertake the development of a strategic policy framework for training and development which involves the use of recognised competency standards and accredited competency based training courses. The Framework will be developed in consultation with agencies and the final proposal submitted for endorsement by the Chief Executives Committee.
