The review of meal, travelling and related allowances as at 1 September 1997 foreshadowed in the Premier's Department, Public Sector Management Office Circulars 96-47 and 97-9 has been completed.

The purpose of this Circular is to advise Chief Executives that, as a result of the review, a 1.6% increase has been approved in the allowances specified in the attached schedule to apply to employees of Departments effective from 1 September 1997.

The next review will be as at 1 September 1998 in line with movements in the Consumer Price Index.

Other New South Wales public sector organisations are encouraged to review their allowances.
