I refer to the Crown Employees (public Sector-Salaries June 1997) Award and the application of increases for Aaff in Ministers' offices.

Ministerial and Parliamentary Services (MaPS) has prepared schedules for each Minister's Office which identify staff that are eligible for award increases, showing current rates and new rates of pay and allowances.

This Circular authorises host agencies to pay the increases to staff of Ministers' Offices, in salaries wages and allowances of:

2% with effect from the first pay period to commence on or after January 1998

and is subject to conditions specified in Circular 97-74 issued 20 November 1997.

Salary increases specified by the new award give recognition to staff performance and productivity issues. Future applications for salary increases above those specified by the new award should be restricted to exceptional circumstances and salary restraint is strongly encouraged.
