The purpose of this Circular is to highlight that Family and Community Services Leave is available for compassionate grounds, including attendance at a funeral.

In NSW public service departments, the Crown Employees (public Service Conditions of Employment) Award provides at Clause (xiv) (b) (1) Family and Community Services Leave on compassionate grounds.

It has been brought to my attention that a number of NSW public sector employees have requested that leave be approved for the purposes of funerals of community identities such as Shirley (Mum Shirl) Sn-dth whose funeral is on 4 May 1998.

I would appreciate you bringing this to the attention of your staff.
