C1998-24 CEO Briefings on Corporate Services Reform: Procurement Reform

Detailed Outline

I refer to Circular 98-2 which indicated that a series of CEOs briefings would be conducted in 1998. Each briefing in the series will focus on a topical issue relating to corporate services reform across the NSW Public Sector.

It is now proposed to hold a briefing on how to reform your procurement practices in the light of the NSW Governments proposed Procurement Policy.

The draft Policy Statement on Government Procurement, draft Code of Practice on Government Procurement and Green Paper on Government Procurement and Economic Development were launched by the Minister for Public Works and Services, the Hon Ron Dyer, MP, and the Hon Harry Woods, MP, on 4 March 1998.

This briefing and case study is specifically designed for CEOs in order to demonstrate the need for procurement reform and the benefits that will be realised by agencies operating under a consistent procurement policy framework. All CEOs are urged to attend. The briefings will be followed, at a date to be advised, by a practitioner workshop covering implementation issues.

A program is attached. A continental breakfast will be provided.

Two sessions are scheduled for:

Date:
Thursday 21 May 1998 and
Friday 22 May 1998

Time:
7.30a.m. - 9.30a.m.

Venue:
Level 41, Governor Macquarie Tower
1 Farrer Place, Sydney NSW 2000

Nominations to attend the breakfast briefing should be recorded on the attached nomination form and returned on facsimile number (02) 9372 8288. Nominations will close on 13 May 1998.

Any enquiries should be directed to Kylie McKinlay on telephone number (02) 9372 8290.
