As you are aware, on 2 February and 5 March 1999 the Premier announced the establishment of telecentres in Gosford and Wollongong. The concept of teleworking and other forms of flexible workplace arrangements are included in the Public Sector's Flexible Work Policies and Guidelines. Telecentres provide for an extension of these flexible working arrangements. The benefits of telecentres are well documented and they are being readily adopted overseas and in other states.

The Premier's Department has established a telecentre project team to facilitate the establishment of telecentre facilities, services, policies and practices which best meet the needs of the agencies, the employees and the community. The telecentre project team will be conducting a briefing session from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon on 20 May, 1999 at Level 41 Governor Macquarie Tower.

The purpose of this session is to provide an overview of the NSW Government telecentre strategy and the draft implementation plan; to open dialogue with organisations who wish to participate; to identify and incorporate specific agency requirements; and to identify the most appropriate arrangements for the Gosford and Wollongong telecentres.

CEOs from all NSW Agencies are asked to nominate representatives (Head of Corporate Services and/or Human Resource Managers) to attend this session. State Owned Corporations and Government Trading Enterprises are also encouraged to participate in this program and invited to send an appropriate representative to the briefing session.
