A new Crown Employees (Public Service Training Wage) Award 2000 was made by the NSW Industrial Relations Commission on 24 May 2000. It covers trainees employed by NSW Government Departments.

The award has updated rates of pay for trainees in line with the State Wage Case Decisions of 1998 and 1999. Hourly rates based on a 35 hour week for part time and school based trainees are also now provided for in the award. The new rates will apply from the first full pay period on or after 24 May 2000.

Other NSW public sector employers are encouraged to update their Awards.
