Detailed Outline
Premier's Department Circular 2000-49 Olympic Attendance Allowance provided details of the application of the Olympic Attendance Allowance. The Treasurer has agreed in principle to provide additional funds to the agencies affected.
Agencies will need to maintain attendance records for the total period for which staff are entitled to receive the allowance. As the percentage of the allowance payable depends on the number of allocated shifts completed, attendance records will need to show the number of shifts allocated and the number of shifts completed.
Premier's Department Circular 2000-44 Crown Employees (2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games Staff Reassignment) Award explained the provisions to apply under the Award. Under Clause 17 of the Award, staff members will accrue time off in lieu if they work hours in excess of their total ordinary working hours across the period or periods of reassignment. Time off in lieu will accrue on an hour for hour basis for the first ten additional hours and at the rate of time and a half for all additional hours thereafter.
Attendance records must be kept by the receiving agency and forwarded to the home agency at the end of the reassignment. So that these records can be used to determine payment of the Olympic Attendance Allowance as well as time off in lieu entitlements, details of allocated and completed shifts, additional hours worked and total hours worked must be kept.
