About
On Tuesday, 26 September 2000, the Premier announced that a parade and concert would be held in the city for Olympic volunteers on Thursday 5 October 2000. The parade is to honour and thank the volunteers who worked to ensure that the Olympic Games were a success. The parade will begin from Hyde Park at 12 noon followed by a Thank you concert in The Domain.
The Government appreciates that many public sector employees were volunteers and will want to participate in the parade and attend the concert.
CEOs are encouraged to allow as many volunteers as possible to attend the celebrations, whilst ensuring that all Government offices remain open and service to the public is maintained. Agencies will need to develop an approach to assessing the applications that is fair to all staff wishing to attend the parade and concert.
Agencies are asked to advise participants that they will be able to travel free of charge on public transport to and from the parade and should wear their Olympic uniform and accreditation.
Inquiries on this matter should be directed to Cathryn Hellams on (02) 9228 3531.
