C2000-78 Award Review of Crowned Employees (Skilled Trades) Awards

Detailed Outline

In compliance with section 19 of the Industrial Relations Act 1996, a review of the Crown Employees (Skilled Tradesmen) Award was recently undertaken by the NSW Industrial Relations Commission (IRC).

By consent of the parties to the award, a number of changes have been made to ensure compliance with the IRC's Award Review Principles. The changes include amending the title to the non-gender specific Crown Employees (Skilled Trades) Award. All relevant variations have been consolidated into the award and obsolete or out of date references deleted. Where appropriate, clauses have been shortened or reworded to clarify their intent.

An Anti-Discrimination clause and Carer's Leave clause have been added in compliance with the State Wage Case 1999 Decision and the State Personal Carer's Leave Case Decision of the Full Bench of the IRC. The Dispute Resolution clause taken from the Crown Employees (Skilled Tradesmen - 1994 Expense Related Allowances) Award has also been inserted into the reviewed award.

This award is included as one of the instruments covered by the Crown Employees Wages Staff (Rates of Pay) Award, and since 1996 rates of pay and allowances have been moved through this instrument. The rates of pay and work related allowances in the reviewed award have been taken from the Crown Employees Wages Staff (Rates of Pay) Award 1998.
