About

This circular concerns the release of the Business Case Guidelines. The guidelines have been developed in response to a range of agency requests for advice in the development and assessment of business proposals. They are also intended to encourage consistent quality and coverage in submissions to agencies such as the Department of Information Technology & Management, NSW Treasury, the Cabinet Office, the Department of Public Works Services and Premier's Department.

I am pleased to announce the release of the Business Case Guidelines.

Developed in collaboration with a number of public sector agencies, the Guidelines represent a practical guide to all aspects of producing a sound and compelling business case. They outline a rigorous methodology, delineate processes and components of a business case and provide additional tools and information including a template and key contacts.

The methodology has been developed to suit a range of applications including submission to an internal decision-making body, central agency or external funding source and to complement rather than replace any other central agency guidelines. They also provide a useful resource for inclusion in relevant induction and training and development programs.
