The purpose of this circular is to advise you that the Industrial Relations Commission on 4 December 2001, varied three awards for certain medical officers employed in the NSW public sector for a 3% increase in rates of pay and wage related allowances. The variations are effective from the first pay period to commence on or after 1 January 2002.

The public sector awards that have been varied, were:

1. Crown Employees (Medical Specialists, Various Agencies) Award
2. Crown Employees (Police Medical Officers - Clinical Forensic Medicine) (State) Award
3. Salaried Senior Medical Practitioners (State) Award

Attached are schedules of rates of pay and wage-related allowances for these awards.

The increase is the third outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding entered into on 28 March 2000 between the Government and the Australian Salaried Medical Officers Federation (New South Wales) to progress priority issues for continued reform in the NSW public sector.
