Description
In order that there is a consistent approach to the provision of motor vehicles, Ministers and Chief Executives are to ensure that motor vehicles in the future are only available to statutory office holders, including public office holders, through normal public sector salary sacrifice arrangements.
Detailed Outline
The Statutory and Other Offices Remuneration Act 1975 was amended in late 2001 to allow all statutory office holders, to have access to a motor vehicle on a salary sacrifice basis. These amendments came into effect from 1 January 2002.
In order that there is a consistent approach to the provision of motor vehicles, Ministers and Chief Executives are to ensure that motor vehicles in the future are only available to statutory office holders, including public office holders, through normal public sector salary sacrifice arrangements.
Motor vehicles are not to be offered as part of an employment package under any special arrangement.
