Her Excellency the Governor and the Executive Council has made an Order establishing HealthQuest as a statutory health corporation under the Health Services Act 1997.

The Public Employment Office has in accordance with the Public Sector Employment and Management (General) Regulation 1996 determined HealthQuest to be the Government Medical Officer for the purposes of that Regulation. Accordingly, HealthQuest will assume responsibility for exercising the functions of the Government Medical Officer under that Regulation and various other pieces of legislation.

It is envisaged that all existing references to the "Government Medical Officer" will be replaced by "HealthQuest" in the next Statute Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill.
