Description
The new deadline for submitting vacancies on jobs.nsw is now close of business Tuesday one week prior to publication in the Public Sector Notices.
Detailed Outline
The move to electronic-only publication of the Public Sector Notices and the subsequent tightening of the redeployment matching and publication processes have enabled the lead time for advertising vacancies in the Public Sector Notices and composite press to be reduced from two weeks (10 working days) down to one week (5 working days).
The new deadline for submitting vacancies on jobs.nsw is now close of business Tuesday one week prior to publication in the Public Sector Notices.
This new deadline represents a significant benefit to the NSW public sector. Reducing the time taken to advertise vacancies has been identified as an important issue for public sector recruitment.
In order to realise the benefits of this faster recruitment process, managers and recruiters placing vacancy advertisements should ensure high standards of timeliness, accuracy and compliance with relevant Premier's Department Circulars and NSW Government policy. Job vacancies that meet the initial deadline but are subsequently found to contain inaccuracies can be corrected, but the advertisement will be delayed until the following edition of the Public Sector Notices.
The new deadlines also mean that there is insufficient time to make special arrangements for some advertisements to be published in the composite press before the Public Sector Notices. All job advertisements that are to be published in both the Public Sector Notices and the composite press now must be published in the Public Sector Notices first.
Redeployment changes
Under the new recruitment cycle, agency case managers responsible for managing displaced staff now have three days to identify potential matches on jobs.nsw rather than four. The new deadline for agency case managers to flag vacancies as ‘Identified' on jobs.nsw and forward matching advice to the Recruitment and Redeployment Unit is close of business each Friday.
Implementation
The new recruitment cycle will be implemented during the week commencing Monday 27 November 2006 for the Public Sector Notices to be published on Wednesday 6 December 2006. Information on the new system and its implementation has been sent to agency recruiters and redeployment officers.
The Public Employment Office, Premier's Department, and Government Advertising, Department of Commerce, will provide ongoing advice and support to agencies in this process.
