On 22 June 2007 the NSW Industrial Relations Commission made the Crown Employees Wages Staff (Rates of Pay) Award 2007 (the Award) by consent.

The Award increases rates of pay and related allowances by 4% for wages staff covered by the Awards and Agreements listed in Schedule A to the Award. The 4% increase has effect from the beginning of the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2007.

Rates of pay and allowances for organisation specific industrial instruments not covered by the Wages Staff (Rates of Pay) Award 2007 are not affected.

The Award provides the fourth and final 4% increase outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding entered into between the NSW Government, Unions NSW and affiliate unions in September 2005. The term of the Award is 12 months, expiring on 30 June 2008.

The Award also corrects minor allowance errors in the Crown Employees Wages Staff (Rates of Pay) Award 2005. The errors appear to have resulted from inconsistent rounding practices being used, and are mostly rounding errors of a few cents.

The 4% increases in rates of pay are shown in Schedule B to the Award and 4% increases to work related allowances are in Schedule C to the Award. Expense related allowances, which move independently to increases in rates of pay in line with the National Building and Construction Award are in Schedule D to the Award.
