The purpose of this Circular is to advise agencies that the Meal, Travelling and Related Allowances contained in Table 1 Allowances of Part B Monetary Rates of the Crown Employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment) Reviewed Award 2006 have been increased, effective from 1 July 2008.

Meal and travelling allowances listed in Items 1, 2, 3 and 19 of Table 1 have been adjusted in line with the Australian Taxation Office Determination No. 2008/18, which provides the reasonable allowance amounts for the 2008-09 financial year.

Allowances listed in Items 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 15 and 16 of Table 1 have been adjusted in accordance with the Award.

Work related allowances are normally adjusted in line with salary increases under the Crown Employees (Public Sector- Salaries) Award. However, changes have not been made to Items 13, 14, 17 and 18 as the Government and the Public Service Association are still in negotiations over a new award.

The Crown Employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment) Reviewed Award 2006 will be varied in due course to reflect the reviewed allowances in this Circular.
