NAIDOC Week will be celebrated this year between 4 and 11 July 2010 with the theme 'Unsung Heroes - Closing the Gap by Leading Their Way'.
NAIDOC Week gives Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people an opportunity to celebrate and share their culture and heritage with the broader Australian community. For further information on NAIDOC please visit http://www.naidoc.org.au
Agencies should support and release Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees to participate in NAIDOC Week events.
Agencies are also encouraged to fly Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander flags alongside the NSW Flag on their buildings during NAIDOC week. Information on the protocol on flying all flags can be found at: http://www.dpc.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0019/784/Flags_and_Emblems.pdf

Which agencies does this Circular apply to?
All public sector agencies other than State Owned Corporations. This includes all agencies and employees in the Government Service (Public Service Departments, Non-Public Service Divisions and Special Employment Divisions), the Teaching Service, NSW Police and the NSW Health Service.
Who needs to know about this Circular?
All employees, especially Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees and their managers..
