Attachment: Meal, Travelling and Related Allowances

The purpose of this Circular is to advise agencies that the Meal, Travelling and Related Allowances contained in Table 1 Allowances of Part B - Monetary Rates of the Crown Employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment) Award 2009 are to be increased in due course. The increases however, should be applied by agencies by administrative action from 1 July 2010 or from the first full pay period commencing on or after that date.

Meal and travelling allowances listed in Items 1, 2, 3 and 19 have been adjusted from 1 July 2010 in line with the Australian Taxation Office Determination No. 2010/19, which sets out the reasonable allowance amounts for the 2010-11 financial year.

Allowances listed in Items 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 12, 15 and 16 of Table 1 have been adjusted from 1 July 2010 in accordance with the changes in the consumer price index for the preceding year to March 2010.

Work related allowances are increased by 4% on and from the first full pay period commencing on or after 1 July 2010, being the same increase as applied to salaries under the Crown Employees (Public Sector Salaries - 2008) Award.

Please note that Motor Vehicle Allowances were not adjusted by the Australian Taxation Office for the 2010/11 Financial Year.

All public sector agencies and employees in the Government Service (Public Service Departments, Non-Public Service Divisions and Special Employment Divisions), the Teaching Service, NSW Police and the NSW Health Service.
