Following a review of air travel arrangements both overseas and within Australia the following classes of travel are now to apply to officers of Departments and members and staff of Statutory Bodies with effect from 1st April, 1990:
- Chief Executive Officers as set out in 1st Class Schedule 3(a) of the Public Sector Management Act 1988.
- Statutory Officers on a remuneration (cash 1st Class salary) of equal to or above $79,895 per annum and Senior Executive Service Officers on Level 5 and above.
- All other Senior Executive Service Officers Business Class not covered above.
- Statutory Officers and Other Senior Officers Business Class on a remuneration of below $79,895 per annum and above or equal to $62,284 per annum.
- All Other Officers on a remuneration below Economy Class $62,284 per annum.
- Part-time Chairpersons of Statutory Bodies, 1st Class where the Chief Executive Officer is entitled to First Class travel under these provisions.
- All other Part-time Chairpersons of Business Class Statutory Bodies.
GENERAL:
Where an Officer accompanies, on the same flight, a Minister etc. who is entitled to travel 1st or Business Class, the Officer may use the same class of travel if required to do so by the Minister, Chief Executive Officer or Part-time Chairperson of Statutory Body.
This memorandum is to be read in conjunction with my Memorandum to Ministers 89/2 of 31st January, 1989, relating to overseas travel by public sector employees and statutory officers.
Would you please inform all Departments, sub-Departments and Statutory Bodies within your administration of these
arrangements.
