M1990-48 Use of Section 50 Transfer Provisions Under The Public Sector Management Act 1988 for Staff Affected By Relocation Of Departments to Country Areas

Description

Superseded by PSM Act provisions - Sch 5A

Detailed Outline

Over the next eighteen months, a number of departments will be relocating staff to country areas of New South Wales. While many officers will relocate with their Departments, I have approved of a procedure being implemented to more fully utilise the transfer provisions (Section 50) of the Public Sector Management Act to assist in placing staff unable to relocate.

In this regard, departments identified for relocation to country areas are to prepare a list of staff who are unable to relocate, stating the officer's position, classification, grade, salary and qualifications, together with a brief outline of work experience. Details are then to be provided to all otherPublic Service organisations for consideration of the suitability for transfer of officers on the list to any vacancy, before advertising. If an organisation identifies a listed officer as possibly suitable for appointment the matter is to be pursued with the parent department.

If an officer is considered suitable for transfer, action should proceed in accordance with the provisions of Section 50 of the Public Sector Management Act.

Would you please draw this matter to the attention of all organisations within your administration.

Yours sincerely,

Nick Greiner, M.P.
