M1991-05 Film and Television Location Filming On Government Property

Detailed Outline

As an initiative of the Minister for the Arts, the Hon P. E. J. Collins, MP, in March 1989 the Industry Liaison Unit was set up within the New South Wales Film & Television Office. The Unit has two main functions:

  1. to facilitate filming on location, owned or controlled by the NSW Government; and
  2. to attract to locations and facilities in NSW, productions from interstate and overseas.

The Unit promotes the planned and considered usage of Government buildings, equipment, facilities and in some cases personnel by film makers.

The Unit can help Government departments and service organisations streamline the location management process in order to minimise disruptions to normal functions.

Currently there are considerable variations in the fees charged for such services and the Unit is able to advise departments on the appropriate fees for locations and other support services which might be provided to film makers.

The Manager of the Unit, Ms Patricia Blunt can be contacted on 281 8711 for further information in relation to the Unit's activities.

Please bring this Memorandum to the attention of all relevant departments and authorities within your administration.
