Detailed Outline
As you are aware, the 1991-92 Budget is now being formulated and all programmes and commitments are being carefully re-assessed to ensure that the available funds are utilised to the best advantage to assist economic recovery.
Accordingly, it has been decided that the current levels of expenditure on advertising are to be reduced by introducing the following changes to the Government advertising policy:
- display recruitment advertisements are suspended forthwith, with the exception of advertisements for the positions of Chief Executive Officers and their Deputies.
- statutory and essential public information advertising are not affected.
- promotional advertising is to cease forthwith except in the case of commercial activities, tourism, tax collection, and health/safety matters. Organisations involved in the above activities are asked to critically review their advertising and place in the most cost effective media.
- the Government Advertising Agency will ensure equitable distribution of advertising among the Sydney metropolitan media.
Would you please ensure that all organisations falling within your Administration are made aware of the above arrangements in relation to the Government Advertising Policy. Any enquiries should be directed to the Government Advertising Agency, Telephone: (02) 339 7612.
Yours sincerely
