M1992-06 Statute Law Rivision Program

I refer to Cabinet's approval of a program of regular statute law revision, and the ensuing preparation of a Statute Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill for each Parliamentary Session.

To enable timely preparation of the next Bill to be introduced in the Autumn Sittings 1992, it would be appreciated if proposals for inclusion in the Bill could be forwarded to the Parliamentary Counsel by 31 March 1992. Proposals should be expressed in narrative form, and not in the form of draft amendments.

It should be noted that proposals that were forwarded, but not included in the Statute Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) (No. 2) Act 1991, will be automatically carried forward for consideration for inclusion in the forthcoming Bill.

Your assistance is sought to ensure that any amendment proposed for inclusion in the program is no more than a minor policy change and is absolutely non-controversial. Your further assistance is sought in providing the name and telephone number of a contact officer.

It is the responsibility of each administration promoting amendments to arrange for commencement of those amendments once the Bill has received Royal Assent.
