The Roads and Traffic Authority is currently in dispute with the management of Comcars on registration and insurance issues, where Comcars have an unfair competitive advantage in the market place compared with private competitors, including the NSW Government contractor.

Until these issues are satisfactorily resolved, it is not appropriate for NSW public sector organisations to use the services of Comcar.

I would be obliged if you would direct all departments within your administration not to use the services of Comcar until further notice and encourage all agencies within your portfolio, which may not mandatorily be bound by Ministerial direction, similarly to refrain from using Comcars.

In February this year, Contract 657 which provides for hire car services to NSW departments and agencies, was renewed. As part of the contractual arrangements, the current contractor, Regency Style limousines, has agreed that the company will handle bookings on behalf of NSW Government organisations requiring hire car services in other State capitals and Canberra.
