M1997-14 Statutory Authorities, Commissions, Advisory Boards, Consultative Committees and Councils - Review of Remuneration

Description

Superseded by M99-03

Detailed Outline

Fee levels have been reviewed for non-executive directors and part-time members of corporatised government trading enterprises, statutory authorities, advisory councils, committees, etc. It has been decided to extend the up to 4% increase granted by Memorandum No. 95-30. The increase will take effect from 1 January 1997. Only those boards, committees, etc where remuneration was last reviewed prior to 27 March 1995 will be eligible for this increase. The daily sitting fees for Category D advisory councils, committees, etc. remain as set in Memo. 95-30.

The policy of newly created boards and committees, which fall into categories A, B and C, having their remuneration initially determined by the Premier is to continue. Any subsequent review of remuneration levels, or requests that the chairperson and/or members of boards, committees etc. receive a level of remuneration greater than that prescribed by the guidelines should be directed to the Premier for his determination. Ministers are requested to provide recommendations with respect to those bodies prior to appointments being referred to Cabinet for approval (see PEO Circular 96-42 "Appointments to Government Boards and Committees").

It would be appreciated if you could bring this memorandum to the attention of all relevant departments and authorities within your administration. Any enquiries should be directed to Peter Rawsthorne on (02) 9228 5530 or Sarah Bradshaw on (02) 9228 4657.
