Detailed Outline

Overview

On 25 March 2013, the NSW Government announced the NSW NOW campaign through the launch of a new website (www.now.nsw.gov.au) and an advertising campaign targeted at business leaders and potential investors.

The campaign aims to attract new investment in NSW through showcasing our strengths and demonstrating our competitive position.

All agencies are now required to attach the NSW NOW branding to new and current projects, programs and announcements that have the potential to drive economic growth and development, including initiatives that target economic growth and promote confidence in investing in NSW, government infrastructure projects and major capital works.

What is the NSW NOW campaign?

NSW NOW is a Government-wide initiative that brings together activities that drive economic growth and development, including existing and new major government infrastructure projects and capital works, and all programs that promote confidence in investing in NSW.

NSW operates in a competitive marketplace. Governments around the world are all looking to increase investment in their respective jurisdictions. The same applies for Australia’s State governments, each competing for the same investment dollar.

NSW has impressive economic statistics and many benefits to offer potential investors. These benefits must be effectively communicated to stay competitive and to maintain relevance in this competitive environment.

The campaign seeks to reach all potential investors in NSW, both international and domestic, ranging from the financial community through to business owners and corporations large and small looking to establish new operations in NSW and Australia.

Initiatives to be branded NSW NOW

Announcements and initiatives that have the potential to increase economic growth and development are to be branded with NSW NOW, including:

  1. policies and programs that target economic growth and promote confidence in investing in NSW;
  2. initiatives that aim to increase the awareness of interstate and overseas investors of the value of investing in NSW;
  3. infrastructure projects;
  4. major capital works; and
  5. any other initiative or announcement that aligns with or enhances the NSW NOW campaign message and brand.

Use of NSW NOW logo

The NSW Government Branding Style Guide (available at www.advertising.nsw.gov.au) has been updated to include the usage requirements of the NSW NOW logo.

Agencies should contact Strategic Communications Branch, Department of Premier and Cabinet (telephone: 9228 3437, email: [email protected]) to obtain the appropriate artwork and discuss any other matters regarding the use of the logo.

Timeframes for implementation of the NSW NOW brand

Agencies are to implement replacement and new branding on initiatives appropriate for NSW NOW branding by 1 July 2013. This includes the use of the logo and tagline (and potentially tailored supplementary messages) in:

  1. advertising and public education campaigns;
  2. infrastructure and construction works;
  3. building and other external signage; and
  4. websites.

Implementation of NSW NOW branding will be audited by DPC at the end of 2013.
