C2009-28 Review of Meal, Travelling and Other Allowances

The purpose of this Circular is to advise agencies that the Meal, Travelling and Related Allowances contained in Table 1 Allowances of Part B - Monetary Rates of the Crown Employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment) Award 2009 have been increased, and should be applied from 1 July 2009.

Meal and travelling allowances listed in Items 1, 2, 3 and 19 have been adjusted in line with the Australian Taxation Office Determination No. 2009/15, which sets out the reasonable allowance amounts for the 2009-10 financial year.

Item 6 has been adjusted in line with the motor vehicle rates set out in the Income Tax Assessment Regulations 1997.

Allowances listed in Items 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 12, 15 and 16 of Table 1 have been adjusted in accordance with the changes in the consumer price index for the preceding year to March 2009.

Work related allowances are increased by 4% being the same increase as applied to salaries under the Crown Employees (Public Sector Salaries - 2008) Award.

The Crown Employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment) Award 2009 will be varied to reflect the reviewed allowances in this Circular.

All public sector agencies and employees in the Government Service (Public Service Departments, Non-Public Service Divisions and Special Employment Divisions), the Teaching Service, NSW Police and the NSW Health Service.
