Detailed Outline
Premier's Department Circular No. 1995-22 provides for the payment of travel allowances to Chief Executives and members of the Senior Executive Service being based on actual expenses, in relation to travel within Australia.
Further consideration has now been given to applying Circular No. 1995-22 to Statutory Officers, Senior Officers and part-time chairpersons and members of Government Boards.
With effect from the date of this Circular, travel allowances for Statutory Officers, Senior Officers and part-time chairpersons and members of Government Boards are to be based on actual expenses incurred, not on daily rates. Current daily rates set out in Premier's Department Circular No. 1994-28, issued on 19 December 1994, are to be treated as an indicative upper limit for travel expenses.
Only officers Grade 12 (current cash salary $64,139pa) and below are eligible to continue to be paid travel allowances on a daily rate basis as part of their award conditions.
These arrangements apply to all public agencies (public service Departments and Administrative Offices, statutory bodies outside the public service and State Owned Corporations).
