P1996-43 Crown Employees (Wages Staff) Rates of Pay Award

Description

The purpose of this circular is to advise that as a result of agreement between the parties an interim adjustment to Award related allowances of 10% is to be made pending the outcome of framework agreement negotiations.

Detailed Outline

The purpose of this circular is to advise that as a result of agreement between the parties an interim adjustment to Award related allowances of 10% is to be made pending the outcome of framework agreement negotiations.

In recognising that an interim increase is warranted and as a result of a review in accordance with paragraphs 7.1-7.4 "allowances" of our letter to Labor Council of 18/4/96, rates will be varied as follows:

  • an interim increase of 10% to award related allowances in keeping with movement in rates of pay, effective from 1/7/95;
  • further award related movements in allowances to be subject to negotiated outcomes through the framework joint working party; and
  • expense related allowances to continue to be reviewed through the framework joint working party to take account of movements in the consumer price index occuring since the allowances were last adjusted.

A schedule of revised award related allowances is included with this circular identifying existing allowances and the same allowances increased by 10%.

The increase in allowances does not affect allowances in existing agreements which have already moved as a result of increases through enterprise bargaining.

Where wages staff, or groups of wages staff have not received the 4% plus 3% by way of award or enterprise agreement their award related allowances should be increased by 4% from 1 January 1994, and 3% from 1 November 1994 by administrative action.

If you encounter any difficulties in implementing the requirements of this circular please contact Jim Medd on telephone number 9228 3579, or Merillyn Grey on telephone number 9228 3593.
