Description
All NSW Government agencies should advertise tenders electronically and not by print advertising.
Detailed Outline
This Direction deals with procurement of goods and services, including construction, by or for a government agency within the meaning of the Public Works and Procurement Act 1912 (as amended).
The electronic advertising of government tenders through the eTendering website enables NSW to contribute to meeting Australia’s free trade commitments. Electronic advertising of tenders is now widely practised by all Australian governments, and is accepted as normal business practice.
Accordingly, from 1 September 2015 all NSW Government agencies should cease print advertising of government tenders and only advertise tenders electronically.
Where an agency considers that there are exceptional reasons which require print advertising of government tenders, the agency head should inform the Chair of the Procurement Board prior to any advertising.
This Direction was considered by the NSW Procurement Board on 22 July 2015 and takes effect from 1 September 2015 until withdrawn.
Guidance to agencies
The Government and Corporate Communications team within the Strategic Communications and Events Branch of the Department of Premier and Cabinet has responsibility for all government advertising. Agencies can meet the obligation under this Board Direction by contacting the team on [email protected] if planning print advertising of a tender.
This Board Direction was withdrawn from 1 July 2019. The requirements to advertise NSW government tenders electronically is now in the NSW Procurement Policy Framework 2019.
