Enclosed is the revised edition of the FOI Procedure Manual. The Manual aims to assist agencies and Ministerial staff in their interpretation of the FOI Act and to take them through the steps for handling FOI requests and related matters.

The third edition incorporates amendments to the Act which became effective from 1 July, 1992, changes to the Local Government Act which brought local authorities wholly within the Act from 1 July, 1993 and significant court cases since the last edition (1991). The NSW Ombudsman's recent FOI Policy and Guidelines have also been cross-referenced to ensure consistency in agency practice.

Further copies of the Manual are available through direct contact with the Premier's Department or the Government Information Service at a cost of $45.
