Detailed Outline
Mr Andrew Humpherson, MP, in his capacity of Chairman, Parliamentary Waste Watch Committee (a Party Committee) has written to individual occupants of public sector positions asking these people to identify inefficient and wasteful use of public resources.
While it is not intended to inhibit any officer's right to provide information pursuant to the Protected Disclosures Act, 1994, there are guidelines in place for the provision of information to Members of Parliament and these are set out in the Memorandum to Ministers No. 92-32 which was issued by the then Premier on 22nd September, 1992.
The Memorandum states in part:- The present Government endorses this well established practice and it would be appreciated, therefore, if you could arrange for the relevant details to be brought to the attention of all staff within your administration.
