Detailed Outline
To assist in the forward planning of the Government's Legislative Program, it is necessary that details be provided of those legislative matters which it is intended be brought to Parliament in the Spring Session.
It would be appreciated if the attached pro-forma schedule could be completed for each legislative proposal. It is important that a target date for each stage indicated on the schedule be nominated to assist with planning the Legislative Program.
A schedule should be completed for every piece of legislation intended for the Session. Schedules should be returned no later than Wednesday 24 July 1996.
To ensure that the Program's objectives are achieved, it is important that Cabinet Minutes for all the major legislative proposals for the Session are provided to The Cabinet Office as soon as possible.
Any matter which is received late, and which is not regarded as essential for the Session will not be accorded any special priority for Cabinet listing, or for drafting of the Bill by the Parliamentary Counsel.
The Cabinet Secretariat will be responsible for maintaining the Legislative Program, and Mr Philip Reed, ph. 9228 4636, or Ms Diana Browne, ph. 9228 5242 will assist with any enquiries. Envelopes enclosing returns on the above matter should be addressed to the Branch Head, Cabinet Secretariat, The Cabinet Office, Level 39, Governor Macquarie Tower, 1 Farrer Place, Sydney NSW 2000.
