C1996-13 Senior Executive - Notional Salary

Detailed Outline

The notional salary for Senior Executive Officers (SES) has been reviewed and as a consequence the Premier has approved the notional salary being the total remuneration package less the minimum amount required to be paid under the Superannuation Guarantee Charge Legislation. As a result the notional salary, effective on and from 1 September 1996, will be 94.3% of any total remuneration package.

This circular replaces all references to the notional salary in the SES Administrators Manual and any Circulars relating to the notional salary level.

The calculation of higher duties allowance (MDA) for non-SES Officers acting in SES positions has been amended to reflect the new formula (see reverse for example). For SES Officers the process for calculating HDA remains unchanged.

Any additional costs that may be incurred as a result of the revised notional salary are to be contained within your existing Budget.

Where:

Grade 12 officer's salary = $66,063
SES Band 1 Lower remuneration package = $95,130

HDA Calculation

HDA=(SES remuneration package x notional salary)less(non-SES officer's annual salary)

HDA=($95,130 x 94.3%) - $66,063

HDA=$89,708 - $66,063

HDA= $23,645pa
