The Institute of Public Administration (IPAA) in conjunction with Premier's Department, Public Sector Management Office (PSMO) will be giving briefing sessions on current issues affecting employee relations in the public sector.
A number of issues affecting public sector employment will be discussed. These include: public sector wages policy; the enterprise bargaining principles established by the 1996 Test Case; the new Senior Officer Structure; public sector mobility; arrangements for the appointment of long term temporary employees in the public service to permanent positions; and an update on personal/ carers' leave arrangements for the public service.
The issues are of significant importance to public sector employment. I therefore recommend the briefing sessions to your staff in employee relations, human resources, corporate services and equal opportunity areas. Sessions will be held in both Sydney and Newcastle, as noted below.

Newcastle
Date: 11 March 1997 Time: 9.30 am - 12 noon Place: Level 3, 237 Wharf Road.
