C1997-18 Displaced Employees - April 1997

Detailed Outline

Implementation of the Government's policy on Managing Displaced Employees has resulted in over 300 public sector employees being redeployed to other agencies since May 1995. Thank you for your assistance with the redeployment of these staff.

The list of displaced employees for April 1997 is attached for your information. As you are aware, all displaced employees have satisfied the requirements for merit selection at their current job level and these staff are now available for immediate placement.

To identify placement opportunities for these employees, your assistance in the following areas would therefore be appreciated:


A copy of the list of displaced employees should be made available to your staff who are responsible for your organisation's recruitment program. This will provide your organisation with access to quality staff at short notice and save the cost of advertising and recruitment if suitable employees are identified. Further information on these employees can be obtained from the Workforce Management Centre (WMC).


Staff responsible for managing your organisation's displaced employees are invited to participate in the WMC's matching sessions which are conducted on Tuesday mornings from 9:00am. This will give them the opportunity to access Government vacancies prior to advertising and to work with the WMC in finding suitable positions for your displaced employees. Arrangements to attend these sessions can be made through your organisation's WMC contact officer.
