Detailed Outline
Ministerial staff are reminded of the requirements contained in the Personnel Handbook in relation to the accrual of recreation leave.
Recreation leave accrued and not taken by an employee shall be allowed to accumulate up to a maximum of 8 weeks (40 working days). All recreation leave accrued in excess of 8 weeks is to be forfeited, unless the Departmental Head is satisfied that the employee was prevented from taking recreation leave due to work commitments and directs that the leave not be forfeited. In relation to staff employed in Ministerial Offices the Director General of the Premier's Department is deemed to be the Departmental Head.
Chiefs of Staff are asked to monitor the accrual of recreation leave for staff within their office, to ensure guidelines are met and appropriate approvals obtained. Host Agencies can provide details of the accrued recreation leave of Ministerial staff.
