C1999-24 Corporate Services Reform Achievements

Detailed Outline

Optimal service delivery is built on an infrastructure of efficient corporate services. More effective and efficient corporate services means better value for all citizens of NSW. The Government's Corporate Services Reform Initiative underpins the delivery of broader social, economic and service delivery policies.

The attached 'Reform and Redirection' report captures the progress made by selected NSW public sector agencies in using corporate services reform to enhance government services in NSW. These gains are illustrated with case studies from a range of agencies. The report outlines the Government's commitments to reforming the public service, specifically enhancing service provision through reducing corporate overheads and increasing the professionalism of the public sector.

The booklet gives background on the Corporate Services Reform Initiative and outlines achievements and future directions in each of the major corporate services reform strategies. The achievements and reforms of individual agencies are illustrated in examples reflecting the Government's focus upon issues and services that the community highly values, such as health, transport, education, security and the environment.

The report is provided to agencies in recognition of their achievements, to inspire all agencies throughout the sector and to encourage professionalism within corporate services. I commend the document 'Reform and Redirection' to all CEOs, their executive teams and corporate services staff. I also request that advice on corporate services innovation that could be included in further reports be forwarded to Liz Coombs, Executive Director, Corporate Services Reform, Premier's Department.

Any queries on the Corporate Service Reform Initiative and particular strategies should be directed also to the Executive Director, Corporate Services Reform on: 9228 3096 or (Email): [email protected]. Further copies of the report can be obtained from Lisa Morrant on 9228 3096.
