Detailed Outline
As previously advised in Premier's Department Circular No 2000-03 the Commonwealth Department of Workplace Relations and Small Business will cease providing information on daily overseas travelling allowances - now expected in April/May 2000.
Agencies who have officers travelling overseas on official business will now need to subscribe directly to ECA Asia Pacific to obtain daily travelling allowances in the currency of the country being visited by subscribing to:
ECA Asia Pacific Phone: (03) 9329 8633
PO Box 230 Fax: (03) 9328 3489
NORTH MELBOURNE Email: Julie Davis on [email protected]
VIC 3051 or Kirsten Dale on [email protected]
The cost of an agency subscribing to a global set of the travelling allowance information will be $690 per annum. ECA will however, consider providing assistance at a lesser fee to those agencies with genuine limited usage. Agencies only need to subscribe to ECA when an officer from their administration is travelling overseas. The subscription continues for twelve months from the commencement of the subscription.
Due to copyright on the overseas travelling rates determined by ECA Asia Pacific the Premier's Department will no longer be able to provide any telephone advice or written advice to agencies on these rates.
The Goods and Services Tax (GST), which commences on 1 July 2000, will have no effect on the level of daily allowance rates.
The three cut off salary points outlined in C2000-03 in relation to the level of allowance that an officer can receive will remain unchanged until 31 December 2000. The cut off salary points will continue to be determined by the Premier's Department annually.
