Further to Premiers Department Circular No 99-58, the August 1999 edition of the Personnel Handbook is now available in electronic form and can be accessed at http://www.dpc.nsw.gov.au

It is planned that updates to the Personnel Handbook will occur on a quarterly basis (where necessary) and the first update is expected to be available on-line at the end of June 2000.

The publication of the Personnel Handbook is a significant milestone in the Governments commitment to delivering all appropriate services via the Internet by the end of 2001. It also provides ready access to all employees about general conditions of employment, mostly only available to Human Resources officers in the past.

Browser
The electronic version is best viewed in Internet Explorer 4 or higher and Netscape Navigator 4 or higher.

Links to Legislation
This icon will provide a useful tool in accessing legislation links referred to in the Personnel Handbook. Users will be able to navigate their way back to the relevant page by using the contents page hyperlinks shown in the left hand margin of the screen.

Arrow Icons
You will find arrows at the top and bottom of each page (home key - bottom of page only) displayed within each Chapter. These icons can be used navigate your way around the screen in addition to the Chapter Tabs and Hyperlinks on the Contents page.

Printing
Unless specified, (when using the browsers print icon), printing of material will commence from what is referred to as the second level heading for example Chapter 6-21. If for instance you are wishing to print at either the third (Chapter 6-21.4) or fourth (Chapter 6-21.4.1) level heading you will need to highlight and select the data required and use the browsers print icon to complete the task.

Index
Although the index is not hyperlinked - users will be able to easily navigate their way to the appropriate section by clicking on the chapter heading tabs at the top of the page and contents page hyperlinks shown in the left hand margin of the screen.
