About

The Government's commitment to a new focus for government services and resources in country New South Wales is the subject of the publication 'Staying in Town.'

The Government's commitment to a new focus for government services and resources in country New South Wales is the subject of the publication 'Staying in Town.'   'Staying in Town' sets out the Government's plan to make services easier for country people to use and to ensure government agencies are focussed on strengthening local communities. It represents an overview of more detailed and tailored regional plans developed with local communities in mind and designed to underpin the Government's commitment to the wellbeing of the people and communities of country New South Wales.   In developing their plans, the regions have recognised the importance of agencies working collaboratively - devoting resources to providing more services, rather than maintenance and administration - to achieve better outcomes for all clients and better meet local needs.     'Staying in Town' has five goals:
  • Better access to services
  • Government services working as one
  • Government jobs and people staying in rural and regional areas
  • Agencies focussed on strengthening local communities
  • Resources to projects, not paperwork

A copy of 'Staying in Town' is enclosed. Please ensure that the message it contains is conveyed to all relevant staff.
